In the UK the negotiations on Nickel with the European Commission are handled by the DTI. Industry input to this
process is primarily through the Nickel Working Group.
The Nickel Working Group is a pan industry body consisting of representatives from major retailers, importers, manufactures of jewellery and fashion accessories together with representatives from the Clothing Trade and Spectacles Industry. Also included are representatives of accredited testing houses, the Laboratory of the Government Chemist, LACOTS and the DTI. The secretariat is provided by the Jewellery Distributors' Association. The Nickel Working Group has a sub-committee consisting of the Chairman, representatives of accredited testing houses, the Laboratory of the Government Chemist that discusses the Testing Methods Standards and makes recommendations to the appropriate authorities. |
